Kilatis Kutis
Last October 26, 2018, the dermatology department of Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital organised a medical mission entitled Gandang Balat para sa Lahat at Barangay 186, Tala, Caloocan City. This is part of the department’s Kilatis Kutis campaign which is typically held four times a year. The medical team is led by Dr. Frederica Veronica Protacio, DPDS, chair of the Department of Dermatology, together with the dermatology residents, Dr. Georgina Paloma, Dr. Marianne Panlilio and Dr. Anna Tankeh as well as two nurses, James Lucas and Ellen Mata. The hospital pharmacist Kaselyn V. Narral also participated in order to help dispense the medications.
The event started at 8:00 AM at the basketball court of Barangay 186 and ended at 12:00 noon. Free medications were given. A total of 80 patients were seen ranging from the pediatric to the geriatric population. Some of the most common cases include seborrheic dermatitis, scabies, dermatophytosis, xerotic eczema, nummular eczema and allergic contact dermatitis. Patients were all grateful to have been given free medications for their respective dermatologic concerns. All in all, the medical mission was a success and it is the department’s goal to be of service to more barangays not just within the Caloocan area but to other cities and municipalities as well.
